Police: Woman stabbed girlfriend to death in Riverhead
A 20-year-old woman was stabbed by her 21-year-old girlfriend in Riverhead shortly before midnight Thursday -- who then drove the victim to the Peconic Medical Center, Suffolk police said in a statement.
The victim, Marta Esmerelda Ramirez-Carbaja, was pronounced at the medical center.
Police said Karen Abigail Delacruz-Reyes, 21, was arrested at the hospital and charged with manslaughter in the first degree.
Police said they responded to a call of a disturbance around 11:58 p.m. on East Main St. and found "no one at the home and there was evidence of a struggle."
Delacruz-Reyes is scheduled to be arraigned Friday, according to the police at Riverhead Justice Court.
