Inwood man faces attempted murder charges in stabbing
Bail has been set on an Inwood man charged with attempted murder after allegedly stabbing a man during an argument, police said.
Nassau County police charged Jose Antonio Cruz, 50, with second-degree attempted murder and second-degree assault following his arrest Sunday evening in Inwood.
Police said officers responding to a 911 call found a 34-year-old man bleeding on the front lawn of a home on Pearl Street, his arm wrapped in a blood-soaked sheet. The victim was transported to a hospital for treatment of what police described as a severe laceration. Police said the victim was listed in stable condition.
Officers found Cruz in the rear yard of the residence and arrested him without incident.
An investigation determined the two men had been in an argument earlier in the day and police said the altercation later escalated to the point where Cruz stabbed the victim, resulting in the laceration.
Bail was set during his arraignment in Nassau District Court at $250,000 cash or $500,000 insured bond. A temporary order of protection was issued.
