Suffolk police arrested and charged a Brentwood woman Tuesday evening with murder in connection with the fatal stabbing of a homeless man over the weekend in Bay Shore.

Nikeya S. Barker, 44, allegedly stabbed Shurvell Rush, 47, behind the Bay Shore LIRR train station about 6:40 p.m. Saturday, according to a Suffolk County Police Department news release.

Police officers responding to a 911 call reporting a stabbing found Rush, whom the department identified as undomiciled, with a stab wound to the chest. He was pronounced dead at South Shore University Hospital in Bay Shore, the release said.

Barker, 44, was charged with second-degree murder, according to the release. She was being held overnight at the Suffolk police department's Fourth Precinct and is set to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
