A Mastic woman was arrested by State Police troopers Friday evening, charged with driving while impaired by drugs during a traffic stop in which they also found quantities of heroin and crack, police said in a news release.
Troopers pulled over Chiffon Robinson, 27, for a traffic violation, while she was behind the wheel of a 2015 Dodge on Crooked Hill Road in Brentwood, police said. An investigation conducted at the scene revealed Robinson had been operating the vehicle under the influence of drugs and that she possessed heroin and crack cocaine, the news release said.
She was arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Saturday, according to court records, which indicate Robinson was represented by a Legal Aid attorney.
She was charged with a slew of crimes including fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, a class-D felony; criminal possession of a controlled substance, cocaine, a class-A misdemeanor; operating a motor vehicle impaired by drugs, a misdemeanor; two infractions for equipment violations; and an infraction for driving a motor vehicle without a proper license. Court records indicate bail was posted for Robinson on a $30,000 bond.
