Police arrested a Rockville Centre resident Tuesday after they said he pretended to ask a man for help, only to rob him of his boots and money, authorities said.
The victim was visiting a friend at the Rockville Centre Ramada Inn when Steven Barrere, 24, asked for help and led him into the second-floor hallway just before 12:15 p.m., Nassau police said.
Barrere threatened the man him with a knife and ordered him to remove his clothing and boots, police said.
A guest called the hotel manager about a disturbance in the hallway, and when officers responded to the manager’s 911 call, Barrere was still there, police said.
Barrere, of Morris Avenue, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of first-degree robbery, third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree unlawful imprisonment and second-degree menacing 2nd degree.
