Stony Brook University police detectives on Wednesday made an arrest in connection with chalk graffiti left in various locations around campus, officials said.

University officials said the messages presented no threat to the school community.

“At this point, we have arrested an individual and will continue to follow up on additional investigative leads,” said university spokeswoman Lauren M. Sheprow.

She did not release any additional information, including the identity of the arrested individual.

Stony Brook University police early Wednesday issued a “campus safety advisory,” warning students that they were investigating the graffiti, which forecast an “incident” that may occur.
