A Stony Brook University student was hospitalized after police said he was slashed in a library.

A Stony Brook University student was hospitalized after police said he was slashed in a library.

According to a campus alert, the incident took place in the Melville Library at around 3 p.m. on Friday.

Stony Brook University Police said two students were fighting in a hallway when one student slashed the other with a knife.

The slashed student was taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police arrested the other student, who was not identified, and recovered the knife.

Further information was not available Saturday morning.
