Cops: High school student falsely reported shooting threat
After clashing with school administrators, a teenage girl returned home and called 911 to falsely report a threat of a shooting at a Cold Spring Harbor school, police said on Friday.
The 16-year-old, who attends Cold Spring Harbor Junior/Senior High School, was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an incident after making the call at 10:44 a.m., Suffolk police said.
Police did not identify the student, who will be evaluated at Huntington Hospital; her arraignment will occur at a later date, according to the police statement.
Since last month’s Parkland, Florida, school massacre, there’s been a number of reports from school systems in both Nassau and Suffolk counties about threatening posts on social media. Some districts have put schools on lockdown as a result.
