Subway restaurant hit again by serial robber, NYPD says

The serial knife-wielding bandit struck again Monday — for the seventh time in Queens and the 24th time overall since March 1 — making off with $600 from a Subway restaurant in Far Rockaway, police said.

NYPD said the suspect, who is also wanted by police in Nassau and Suffolk counties, entered the fast-food sandwich shop at 233 Beach 20th St. at about 9:30 p.m. and took $600 from the cash register.

Six other similar robberies have been committed in Queens since May 11, including another Subway on Sunday in Oakland Gardens, at 61-13 Springfield Blvd.

NYPD and local detectives think the same man has committed 17 such robberies on Long Island — 13 in Nassau and four in Suffolk. The FBI is assisting in the investigation.

The suspect in the pattern has been described as 25 years old, about 6 feet tall with a medium build, most often wearing a dark hooded jacket, blue jeans and tan work boots. He usually covers his face with dark sunglasses and a dark cloth, police said.

Witnesses have described him carrying a large butcher knife, which police have said is uncommon in this type of crime.

The NYPD has dubbed the string of robberies citywide crime pattern 90, which began in Nassau County.
