Suffolk cops: Man shot in ankle in Wyandanch
Someone with a gun fired into a group of people on a Wyandanch corner Friday night, hitting a man in the ankle, Suffolk police said.
Witnesses told investigators that people at the corner of North 15th Street and Merritt Avenue had argued shortly before someone ran up with a gun and fired four shots, police said.
The incident happened about 6 p.m., First Precinct detectives said.
The victim, a 36-year-old Wyandanch man, was hit in the right ankle, and a friend drove him to Southside Hospital in Bay Shore, detectives said.
It was not clear if the victim was the target, but he was expected to recover, police said.
