Suffolk County detectives Tuesday charged a Mastic man with the robbery of a Shirley bank.

Edward Motl, 50, of Marcella Drive, was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbing the Capital One Bank, at 800 Montauk Highway in Shirley on Monday.

He was charged with third degree robbery, police said, and was held at the Seventh Precinct until his arraignment Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.

In a prior news release, police said a man had entered the Capital One Bank at about 2:20 p.m. and demanded money. The teller complied with the suspect’s demands and gave him cash from the drawer. The suspect fled the bank on foot.
