A Central Islip man died after the car he was driving late Saturday in Middle Island smashed into a tree, Suffolk police said.

Kevin Majanosaravia, 24, was alone in a 1993 Honda Civic at 11:57 p.m. when he lost control of the vehicle while heading southbound on Yaphank Middle Island Road near Bay Avenue, according to police. The car veered off the road and hit a tree in a residential area near Longwood Middle School, police said.No other vehicles were involved.

Majanosaravia was pronounced dead on the scene by the county medical examiner’s office.

Police said the reason he lost control remained unknown.

Police have asked that anyone with information call the Seventh Squad detectives at 631-852-8752.
