Suffolk police probe Wyandanch shots-fired call, wounded man

First Squad detectives are investigating whether a report of shots fired early Saturday in Wyandanch is related to the shooting of a man who was found critically injured at a hospital, Suffolk County police said.
Police ask anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477. All calls will remain confidential.
Police said First Precinct officers responded to a call of shots fired on North 26th Street at about 1:40 a.m. and a short time later, an 18-year-old male was found at a hospital with a gunshot wound.
The victim had taken himself to the hospital, police said, declining to name of the hospital for the victim’s protection.
