Two men — an alleged drunken driver and another driver whose vehicle he struck while driving the wrong way on Sunrise Highway in Massapequa — were in critical condition after a 2 a.m. New Year’s Day crash, police said.
Tasabbir Hossain, 32, of Ronkonkoma, was westbound in his 2021 Mercedes in the eastbound lanes of Sunrise Highway near Louden Avenue when he collied with the other driver’s 2015 Acura, Nassau police said in a news release.
Both drivers, who were the sole occupants, were transported to hospitals, where they were listed in critical condition, police said.
Police charged Hossain with assault, vehicular assault, reckless driving and driving while intoxicated. He will be arraigned "when medically practical," police said.

Court records did not list a lawyer for Hossain.
Police identified the other driver only as a 30-year-old man.
Video and photos of the crash scene showed a nearly demolished white Acura and a Mercedes SUV with extensive driver’s side damage.
