Suspect sought in Merrick bank robbery, Nassau police say

Nassau County police have released a surveillance image of a man they said they are seeking in connection with the robbery of a Bank of America branch on Merrick Road in Merrick on Aug. 29, 2016. Credit: NCPD
He entered the bank, handed the teller a demand note. The teller complied, handed over cash — and then, Nassau County police said, the robber fled.
Now police are asking the public’s assistance in helping catch the suspect, who investigators said robbed a Bank of America branch on Merrick Road in Merrick on Aug. 29. The robbery took place at 2:08 p.m. Police have not said how much was stolen.
Police have released a surveillance photo of the suspect, seen wearing a baseball cap and a collared “Ecko” shirt.
Police said the suspect is believed to be about 5-foot-11, 275 to 300 pounds and in his mid-to-late 30s or early 40s.
