Suspect used bogus bills at Hamptons 7-Eleven, police say

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Southampton Town Police detectives have released a surveillance image of a person they are seeking in connection with an attempt to use counterfeit cash at the 7-Eleven on Mill Road in Westhampton on May 15, 2017. Credit: SCPD
A suspect wanted for using counterfeit cash at a Westhampton 7-Eleven earlier this month was hardly inconspicuous.
A Crime Stoppers flier listed the suspect only as a woman, but photos released by Suffolk County and Southampton Town police show a suspect with close-cropped bright red hair, a black headband, a gray one-piece over dark-colored leggings and a powder-blue hoodie.
Police said the suspect handed 11 $10 bills to the cashier at the 7-Eleven on Mill Road at about 6 a.m. on May 15, but fled the scene in a silver BMW when the cashier determined them to be counterfeit, police said.
Police are now asking anyone who recognizes the suspect to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
All calls will be kept confidential.
