SUV flips in North Lindenhurst crash, driver flees, cops say

Suffolk County police are looking for a man who fled the scene Thursday after flipping his sport utility vehicle in a North Lindenhurst crash with another vehicle, Suffolk County police said.
The man was driving a 1999 Mitsubishi Montero Sport east on Sunrise Highway at about 6:30 p.m. and attempted to make a left turn onto Buffalo Avenue when he struck a 2002 Ford, which was driving west, police said.
A witness helped the driver of the flipped Montero Sport, but the driver ran from the scene, escaping through yards in the area, police said.
The driver of the Ford, a woman, and her four passengers — including her 1-year-old daughter — were taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip with minor injuries, police said.
