Tall thief hits Massapequa jewelry store
A gunman robbed a jewelry store in Sunrise Mall in Massapequa Thursday night, restraining an employee in a back room before fleeing, Nassau police said.
But the robber shouldn't be hard to miss: Police said he's believed to be almost 7 feet tall.
The armed robbery took place at about 9:30 p.m. Police said the gunman walked into Gold Buyers, approached the store clerk and "demanded jewelry from the safe."
The employee complied and then was forced into a back room and restrained, police said. The gunman took jewels and cash and fled.
Police said the employee suffered minor injuries, but refused medical attention.
Police said the robber is about 6-foot-10 with a muscular build and was wearing a gray hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All calls will remain confidential, police said.
