TD Bank teller rips up demand note, foiling robbery, cops say
Nassau detectives are searching for a man who they said walked into a bank in Merrick Thursday and asked for money — but fled after a teller ripped up his demand note.
Major Case Bureau detectives said the suspect entered TD Bank at 2260 Merrick Rd. and handed a teller a note. She tore up the note and put it in the garbage, after which the suspect left, empty-handed, police said
Police described the suspect as 5 feet, 6 inches to 5 feet, 9 inches tall, clean shaven and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, sunglasses and gloves.
Five employees and two customers were in the bank at the time of the attempted robbery, police said.
