A 13-year-old boy riding a bicycle in the parking lot of a North Bellmore school was assaulted Sunday afternoon and the suspect is currently being sought, Nassau police said.

The boy was on his bike in the Newbridge Road Elementary School lot at 1601 Newbridge Rd. at 12:30 p.m. when police said a man on a bike carrying a backpack slammed into him and caused him to fall.

The man then allegedly used his bicycle to strike the victim multiple times in the face before fleeing north on Newbridge Road. The boy was treated at the scene and suffered swelling and bruising to his eye, plus lacerations to his stomach and legs, police said. The suspect was captured on security cameras from nearby businesses, police said. Police described the suspect as being in his 30s, about 6 feet tall with a large build and dark hair and a beard. He was wearing a blue face covering, gray sweatpants, and a dark colored sweatshirt, police said.
