Two teenagers were arrested after witnesses in Elmont reported gunfire coming from the occupants of a black Prius, Nassau police said Tuesday.

Six to seven shots were fired on South Covert Avenue shortly before 10:45 p.m. Monday, damaging one nearby car, police said.

Witnesses told officers that the shooter had taken off in a black Prius, which was tracked down in Valley Stream, authorities said. The Prius driver was not arrested.

Rhayne O. Morris, 17, of Ocean Avenue in Valley Stream, allegedly fired the gun and is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday on charges of second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, first-degree reckless endangerment, criminal possession of a firearm, fourth-degree criminal mischief and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, mushrooms, police said.

A 15-year-old male had mushrooms and Xanax and is being treated as a juvenile, police said. He was charged with criminal possession of a firearm and two counts of seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
