Teen girl says man followed her in New Hyde Park
Nassau police are investigating a complaint from a 14-year-old girl who said she was followed on Leonard Boulevard in New Hyde Park by a middle-aged man.
The girl, who was not named by police, was walking on Leonard Boulevard when a man exited a silver 4-door sedan and began following and trying to talk to her, police said. The girl ran and was followed by the man, who continued trying to talk to her, police said.
Police said the girl got home safely and the man fled in an unknown direction.
Police decribe the suspect as 40 to 50 years old with grey medium-length hair, wearing a grey t-shirt and tan shorts.
Police ask anyone with information to call 1-800-244-TIPS. Calls will remain anonymous, police said.
