Two teenagers — boys ages 14 and 17 — were stabbed Tuesday evening in Huntington Station during an altercation near the Huntington Manor Fire Department’s fair, according to the Suffolk County Police Department.

The 14-year-old was seriously injured and the 17-year-old’s stab wounds were not life-threatening, the department wrote in a news release. Both were transported to hospitals to be treated. Specifics of the injuries weren’t disclosed.

Huntington Manor firefighters said in a statement Wednesday the stabbings occurred outside the perimeter of the fairgrounds. They said one of the victims came to the fairgrounds seeking medical treatment.

"We are deeply saddened by this event, and our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this incredibly difficult time," the fire department wrote.

The police press office said no one had been detained, arrested or charged in connection with the incident, which occurred at about 8:50 p.m. on Oakwood Road and involved teens and young men.

The office said patrols are being increased through the end of the fair Saturday.

The nature of the altercation, along with how many people were involved, is under investigation, the office wrote.

According to the fire department’s Facebook page, the fair featured "21 rides, games, food, food trucks, fun and gambling." The firefighters parade was planned for Wednesday evening down Oakwood Road.

The department said the festivities, planned through Saturday evening, would continue as planned.

"We remain committed to providing a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees, and we will continue working closely with law enforcement to maintain that standard," that statement said.
