Nassau County police are searching for a man who robbed a Valley Stream deli armed with a gun on Friday afternoon.

The suspect, described by police as a man wearing sunglasses, entered the Rockaway Deli Mart, at 429 Rockaway Ave., at 4:17 p.m. and approached a female store clerk, police said in a news release.

The gunman lifted his sweatshirt and displayed a black handgun that was tucked in his waistband, police said, before taking an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. He fled on foot, police said.

No injuries were reported, police said. The victim was alone in the store at the time.

Detectives ask anyone with information about this robbery to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-224-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
