A Valley Stream Walmart shopper was accosted by a man with a knife demanding “papers” in the store’s parking lot Sunday morning, in what police described as an attempted robbery.

The victim, a 52-year-old man, was putting his purchases into his trunk at the Walmart on Green Acres Road West when a man approached him with a knife and “demanded papers,” Nassau County Police said in a news release.

The victim, according to police, said: “I have no papers,” and “suddenly fell to the ground.”

The robber, described as having dreadlocks and wearing a red shirt and bluejeans, then “placed the knife on the victim’s stomach, causing a small laceration,” police said.

He then fled without taking anything from the victim, police said. The victim refused medical attention, police said.

Fifth Squad detectives request that anyone with information about this crime call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
