A Wantagh man, already on probation for narcotics possession, is facing a host of new charges after the Nassau County police allegedly found large quantities of crystal methamphetamine, ketamine and other illicit drugs inside his Darby Road home.
Daniel Posner, 53, was arrested Wednesday morning and charged with multiple counts of second-, third-, fourth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He was arraigned Thursday at Nassau County District Court in Hempstead, where he pleaded not guilty and was remanded without bail, according to court records.
During a visit to Posner's home Wednesday morning, Nassau County probation officers spotted a round yellow plastic container with a substance believed to be crystal methamphetamine, along with a black metal safe on the floor of his bedroom, charging documents state.
Detectives with the Nassau police Narcotics/Vice Squad, joined by members of the Emergency Services Bureau, opened the safe and found a host of illicit drugs, including 85 grams of crystal meth, 15 grams of ketamine, liquid GHB, and MDMA and alprazolam pills, the records state.
Authorities also found methamphetamine paraphernalia inside the home, authorities said.
Spokespersons for the Nassau County Police Department and District Attorney's Office declined to address questions about whether Posner was cooking meth inside the home.
Karen Johnston, Posner's Mineola-based defense attorney, said she had yet to meet with her client and declined to comment.
The Town of Hempstead Buildings Department secured Posner's Wantagh property but declined additional comment, citing the ongoing investigation.
Records show Posner is on probation related to a 2022 arrest for the sale and possession of meth. He pleaded guilty in 2023 to seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and was sentenced to three years probation, records show.
Posner is due back in court on Monday.
