West Babylon dispute leads to driver fatally stabbing man, cops say
One man was stabbed to death and another was injured following a dispute between two motorists Friday morning in West Babylon, Suffolk police said.
Two cars were heading southwest on Straight Path when their occupants got into a dispute, said Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer, commanding officer of the Suffolk County police Homicide Squad.
The cars stopped at Commander Avenue about 9:20 a.m. and the driver of one vehicle stabbed both men from the other vehicle. One of the victims, Nyquan Banister, 22, of North Babylon, was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
The second victim, a 21-year-old man from North Babylon, was hospitalized and treated for non life-threatening injuries, police said. The injured man’s identity was not released.
Police said a 911 caller reported the stabbings.
The stabber was driving a white sport utility vehicle with out-of-state license plates, police said.
Homicide Squad detectives are investigating, and anyone with information on this stabbing is asked to call 631-852-6394 or call Crime Stoppers anonymously at 1-800-220-TIPS.
