A West Babylon man faces charges of aggravated vehicular assault and felony drunken driving after seriously injuring himself and his two passengers in a single-car crash on the Southern State Parkway late Saturday, New York State Police said.

Mark M. Diamond, 33, also is charged with second-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and reckless driving in the 11:53 p.m. crash at Exit 20, Grand Avenue in South Hempstead.

Diamond was driving a 2011 Mercedes-Benz east on the parkway when he lost control and struck a tree on the south shoulder, police said in a news release.

Diamond and his two passengers, Stacy Ward, 30, of Lindenhurst, and Patrishah Morgan, 33, of Hempstead, all had broken bones, the release said.

A police spokesman Monday said all were taken to Nassau University Medical Center in East Meadow.

Diamond broke bones in his right leg and right arm, the spokesman said.

Morgan had small fractures around her right eye, bruised a lung and had a cut on her left leg, and Ward broke an ankle.

Diamond was arrested after an investigation at the scene and at the hospital. Police said a bedside arraignment at the hospital is pending.
