West Babylon man found with gun in traffic stop, state cops say
State Police pulling over a 1998 Toyota Camry on Tuesday on the Southern State Parkway in Babylon Town said its driver had marijuana and drug paraphernalia and the passenger was armed with a loaded handgun.
Driver Haroun Bey, 18, of West Babylon, is charged with criminally using drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana. He was released on an appearance ticket.
Passenger Joshua Oltchick, 18, also of West Babylon, is charged with second-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a felony.
Oltchick had a loaded Smith & Wesson revolver, police said. He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Central Islip.
The car was driving eastbound and troopers pulled it over for a routine traffic stop at about 11:25 a.m., according to a news release.
