Nassau police are looking for whoever broke into a car sales lot in Westbury and crashed nearly three dozen vehicles, causing more than $120,000 in damage, police said.

The incident, which police have indicated would result in charges of criminal mischief, was reported to police on Monday at 8:30 a.m., police said.

Sometime between Sunday and Monday when the incident was reported, someone entered the gated service lot of Westbury Jeep at 111 Bond St. and entered several unlocked automobiles and “began driving the vehicles, hitting into parked cars,” police said.

Police spokesman Officer Steven Zacchia said 34 so-called “loaner cars” were damaged. “No useful” surveillance video was recovered from the scene, Zacchia said.

Attempts to reach a manager at the dealership were unsuccessful Monday afternoon.

Detectives request that anyone with information regarding this crime contact the Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
