A woman walking from her vehicle to her Uniondale home was robbed by a masked man with a knife during Wednesday’s predawn hours, Nassau police said.

The victim, 61, was grabbed and thrown to the ground about 4:35 a.m. on Braxton Street by a stocky male whose mouth was covered by a black mask and who wore a black hooded sweatshirt and beige pants, police said.

The robber demanded money and the woman gave him her handbag, which contained her cell phone and personal property, police said.

The suspect took off westbound on Braxton Street, then south on Maple Avenue, police said. He appeared to be 5 feet 10 inches tall, police said.

Detectives said no injuries were reported and asked anyone with information to contact Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
