Women walking in Hicksville robbed by man on bike, cops say
Nassau County’s Second Squad detectives said Wednesday a man on a bicycle is suspected of snatching handbags from two women walking on Jerusalem Avenue in Hicksville.
At about 3:40 p.m. Tuesday, a woman, 63, was walking on Jerusalem Avenue near West Cherry Street when she was approached from behind by a man on a bike who “forcibly grabbed her pocketbook from her shoulder,” police said in a news release.
At about 7 p.m. Monday, another woman, also 63, was walking near West Marie Street when she had her purse snatched from her wrist by a man riding a bicycle.
In both instances, the man, only described as in his 20s, rode off south on Jerusalem Avenue, police said. Neither woman was injured.
