Would-be Medford bank robber thwarted by teller, cops say

A man trying to rob a Medford bank was thwarted Wednesday when the teller took his plastic bag and backed away, Suffolk police said.

The would-be robber went into the Chase on Route 112 about 5 p.m., plunked his bag on the counter and ordered the teller to give him cash, police said.

But when the teller backed away with the bag, the man ran off without getting anything, police said.

Detectives are looking for the suspect, who appears to between 30 and 35 years old and between 5 feet, 8 inches and 5 feet, 11 inches tall. He has a thin build and wore a black, button-down shirt with light-colored pants and a dark blue Yankees hat.
