Westbury man critically injured in Wyandanch shooting, police say

A 20-year-old Westbury man was critically injured after being shot while in the backyard of a Wyandanch home on Wednesday evening, the Suffolk County police said.
Police were alerted to a report of a shooting at 8:26 p.m. Police responded to a nearby Shell gasoline station where the man was discovered, photos from the scene show. The victim was transported to a hospital, where he is in critical but stable condition, police said in a news release.
Police did not say whether they were pursuing suspects or provide any motive for the shooting. No further information was immediately available.
