A Bellport man was arrested Tuesday and charged with criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endangerment for allegedly firing a gun in the parking lot of a TGI Friday’s on Old Country Road in Riverhead in late November, authorities said.

Xavier Cancel, 20, is accused of firing several shots from a handgun, hitting the restaurant and an unoccupied vehicle nearby.

Cancel, who is being held at Suffolk County Correctional Facility on an unrelated matter, was arraigned in Riverhead Justice Court on Tuesday. His bail was set at $25,000.

After his court appearance, he was taken back to the jail.
