Boat registrations sank faster on Long Island
Long Island boat registrations were down 20 percent between 2006 and 2015, according to data from the NYS Department of Motor Vehicles and the U.S. Coast Guard. Note: A recession began in December 2007 and ended in June 2009. Tropical Storm Irene struck in 2011 and superstorm Sandy struck in 2012. Figures include motorboats, sailboats with engines, jet skis and other mechanically-propelled boats used for recreation. Here are the raw numbers:
