DEC: Temporary blackout of sporting license sales
A temporary blackout will be in effect starting Dec. 26 on buying hunting, fishing and trapping licenses; getting recreational marine fishing registrations; and reporting harvested game, the state Department of Environmental Conservation said Monday.
The blackout, expected to last a week or two, is related to the transition to a new computerized licensing system, said the DEC, which will notify the public when the system is up and running.
Hunters, who are required to report deer, bear and turkey harvesting within seven days of being taken, will be given a seven-day grace period for reporting once the new system is operational, the DEC said.
