Two arrested after West Babylon bank holdup, say cops

Two masked gunmen who held up a West Babylon bank face robbery charges Friday after they were nabbed following a police chase, Suffolk County police said.

Demitrious Miller, 51, of Roosevelt, and Patrick Flynn, 28, of Holbrook, were charged with first-degree robbery in the holdup of TD Bank on West Montauk Highway at 8 p.m. Thursday, police said.

After they fled with cash, Suffolk pattern crime detectives started investigating, and shortly after the robbery they tried to pull over a vehicle at the Ronkonkoma train station, police said.

The vehicle took off but it and one suspect were discovered in Holbrook on Broadway Avenue about 9 p.m., while the second suspect was arrested nearby, police said.

The pattern crime detectives are trying to identify others involved in the bank holdup, police said. Police declined to release details on the role of other suspects, including where they were during the robbery.

Other details in the arrest, including whether the second suspect jumped out of the vehicle, were not immediately available.

The two were scheduled to be arraigned Friday. Flynn was held pending a bail of $300,000 bond or $100,000 cash. Flynn's attorney, Keith O'Halloran of Westhampton, said his client "vehemently denies" the allegations and has his family's support.

"The case is in the very early stages, but we look forward to completing our investigation and bringing the truth to light," O'Halloran said.

Details for Miller were not available Friday.
