Dense fog advisory for LI waters Tuesday morning

All Long Island waters are under a dense fog advisory that continues through Tuesday morning, the National Weather Service said in its marine forecast.

The service's Upton office said winds are likely to shift offshore behind departing low pressure that should improve visibility by mid and late morning.

A small craft advisory is in effect for ocean waters to Wednesday afternoon; for Long Island Sound, New York Harbor, Peconic and Gardiners bays and South Shore bays from Jones Inlet through Shinnecock Bay, the advisory runs into Tuesday evening.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman also said the remnants of Tropical Storm Ana, moving south and east of Montauk, will have an impact on waves of 3 feet to 7 feet.

Gusty winds are likely through early Wednesday and are expected to gradually subside by Wednesday night, the service said.

The daily forecast for Nassau and Suffolk counties on Tuesday calls for warm, humid weather with highs near 80 and light winds.
