Dense fog advisory lifted for Long Island waters as cold front approaches
Conditions on Long Island waters are at sub-small craft advisory levels, with a cold front approaching later Tuesday, the National Weather Service's Upton office said in its marine report.
A dense fog advisory for all waters expired at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
But visibility was difficult to measure "due to lack of observations and low stratus obscuring any fog on the waters," the service said.
A wind shift from the south to the southwest also will occur Tuesday, with another shift to the northwest and possible gusts up to 20 knots overnight behind the cold front.
Tuesday's inland forecast calls for showers, possible thunderstorms and daily highs in the upper 60s, the service said.
