Long Island law enforcement agencies arrested at least 93 drunken drivers over the New Year's Day holiday weekend, authorities said Tuesday.

Nassau County police arrested 35 drivers between 7 p.m. Dec. 30 and 7 a.m. Jan. 2. Suffolk police arrested 39 drivers between 4 p.m. Dec. 30 and 8 a.m. Monday.

The Suffolk County Sheriff's Office said deputies made seven arrests over the holiday weekend in connection with driving while intoxicated, while State Police arrested 12 drivers -- eight of them on New Year's Day.

Last year, Nassau police made 40 New Year's holiday arrests, while Suffolk police made 31. Sheriffs arrested 11 during that holiday celebration.

Numbers for last New Year's arrests by State Police were not immediately available.
