A broken rail that caused the suspension of eastbound local service on the Long Island Rail Road between Penn Station and Jamaica for about two hours Monday was restored just before noon, officials said.

Westbound local service had been unaffected.

Officials said eastbound trains did not stop at Woodside, Forest Hills or Kew Gardens due to the rail condition.

The situation was announced at 9:49 a.m. and the railroad sent notification at 11:47 a.m. saying the broken rail had been fixed and that service was back on schedule.

During the service suspension said tickets were honored by NYC Transit, the railroad said. It is unclear what caused the broken rail condition.
