Meet award winners from Long Island schools

Lily Rosengard, a sixth-grader at Setauket Elementary School, has received the Three Village Teacher Association's Academic Award in recognition of her academic excellence.

Madeline Galeotafiore, a sixth-grader at Setauket Elementary School, has received the Three Village Teacher Association's Academic Award in recognition of her academic excellence.

Matthew McNierney, a senior at Elwood-John H. Glenn High School, has received the Giovanna Morabito Memorial Scholarship from the American Association of Teachers of Italian's Long Island Chapter for excelling in Italian studies for a minimum of four years, school officials said.

John Alexander, a senior at Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, has received PW Green's Outstanding Achievement Award in recognition of his leadership in eco-friendly living thru his service - including working to start a recycling program at the Port Washington Fire Company.

Skyler Cruz, a fifth-grader at Jericho Elementary School in the Middle Country School District, won the Jericho Yearbook Contest for a poem she write on gratitude to essential workers, school officials said.

Rachel Scott, a sixth-grader at Nassakeag Elementary School in East Setauket, has received the Three Village Teachers Association Academic Scholarship Award for being viewed as an exemplary role model by her peers as a result of her service to the community, school officials said.

Anthony Foraci, a senior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the New York State Comptroller's Student Achievement Award for excelling academically and showing leadership potential by volunteering his time to serve the school or community, school officials said.

Priya Chainani, a senior at Paul D. Schreiber High School in Port Washington, has received the AGATE (Advocacy for Gifted and Talented Education) of Port Washington's Toula J. Halperin Award for Academic Excellence in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement coupled with the passionate and dedicated pursuit of a talent, skill or interest, school officials said.

Halperin Award for Academic Excellence in recognition of her outstanding academic achievement coupled with the passionate and dedicated pursuit of a talent, skill or interest, school officials said.

Tyler Olszewski, a senior at West Hempstead High School, has received awards including the Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition from Congresswoman Kathleen Rice and the West Hempstead Education Association's Retirees Award.

Leah Rubin, a senior at West Hempstead High School, has received awards including the Student Standout Award from New York State Assemblywoman Judy Griffin, the New York State Comptroller's Achievement Award, and the Award for Outstanding Achievement in Honors and AP English: 12th Grade Advanced Placement.

Omosefe Ikpia, a senior at West Hempstead High School, has received the Attorney General's Triple "C" Award in recognition of her "courage, character and commitment," school officials said. She also received scholarships including the Long Island Mathematics Conference Board's Dr. Jong Pil Lee Memorial Scholarship and Career Day Inc.'s Arie A. Bucheister Memorial Scholarship.

Runako Miot, a senior at West Hempstead High School, has received awards including the Community Service and Academic Excellence Award from Nassau County Executive Laura Curran and the New York State Academic Excellence Award.

Sabrina Manuel, a senior at West Hempstead High School, has received including the Town of Hempstead Community Service and Academic Excellence Award, Family & Consumer Science Award for Outstanding Achievement, and the World Language Departmental Awards for outstanding Achievement in Spanish 5 College.

Xavier Allen, a senior at Mattituck High School, has received he Butch Dellecave Award for his athletic prowess, excellence in the classroom, and contributions within the community, school officials said.

Gabrielle Finora, a senior at Mattituck High School, has received the NYSSMA All-State Women's Chorus Award.

Payton Maddaloni, a senior at Mattituck High School, has received the Butch Dellecave Award for her athletic prowess, excellence in the classroom, and contributions within the community, school officials said.

Rachel Park, a senior at Mattituck High School, has received Daughters of the War of 1812 Leadership Award and Southold NJROTC Motivation Award in recognition of her motivation and leadership with the NJROTC, school officials said.

Emmet Ryan, a senior at Mattituck High School, has received the Daughters of the American Revolution Leadership and Citizenship Award and Military Order of Foreign Wars Leadership Medal in recognition of his citizenship and leadership with the NJROTC, school officials said.

Anthony Lin, a junior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the Rensselaer Medal, which is a premier merit scholarship offered by Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and is worth up to $120,000 for outstanding math and science students, school officials said. 

Jake Rocchio, a junior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the Clarkson University Achievement Award for demonstrating outstanding leadership qualities and having an academic interest in business, engineering, liberal arts or science. The award totals $48,000 ($12,000 per year) over four years should he apply, be accepted and choose to enroll at Clarkson University, school officials said.

Melissa Orias Aranibar, a senior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the Air Force Certificate of Recognition based on her significant achievements in categories other than math and science, school officials said.

Srikar Anathoju, a senior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the Air Force Mathematics and Science Awardin recognition of his high grades in mathematics and science subjects, school officials said.

Taylor Alleluia, a senior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the Attorney General's Triple "C" Award in recognition of his "courage, character and commitment," school officials said.

Dylan MacDonald, a senior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the Attorney General's Triple "C" Award in recognition of his "courage, character and commitment," school officials said.

Logan Haynia, a senior at Comsewogue High School in Port Jefferson Station, has received the Senator John Flanagan 2020 Government Achievement Award in recognition of his academic and extracurricular accomplishments, school officials said.

Mikael Choi, a sixth-grader at Nassakeag Elementary School in East Setauket, has received the New York State Comptroller Student Achievement Award for excelling academically and showing leadership potential by volunteering his time to serve the school and community, school official said.

Michael Retakh, a sixth-grader at Nassakeag Elementary School in East Setauket, has received the Three Village Teachers Association Academic Scholarship Award for demonstrating academic excellence in all subject areas, school officials said.

Ariella Mossey, a sixth-grader at Arrowhead Elementary School in Setauket, has received the Attorney General's Triple "C" Award in recognition of her "courage, character and commitment," school officials said.

Jake Sfakis, a sixth-grader at Arrowhead Elementary School in Setauket, has received the Attorney General's Triple "C" Award in recognition of her "courage, character and commitment," school officials said.

Kaylee Swanson, a sixth-grader at Arrowhead Elementary School in Setauket, has received the Attorney General's Triple "C" Award in recognition of her "courage, character and commitment," school officials said.

Makaila Schaefer, a sixth-grader at Arrowhead Elementary School in Setauket, has received the Three Village Teacher Association Community Service Scholarship Award for consistently participating in fundraising and community service activities and for volunteering for various organizations to better improve the community at large, school officials said.

Natalie Drucker, a sixth-grader at Arrowhead Elementary School in Setauket, has received the Three Village Teacher Association Academic Achievement Scholarship Award for maintaining the highest of grades throughout the year, remaining an active participant within the classroom, and putting forth the greatest of effort into her work, school officials said.

Erin Thompson, a senior at West Babylon High School, has received the school's Principal's Award based on nominations from the building's staff. It goes to a student within the top 2% of the class who has been outstanding in the school throughout their four years, school officials said.

Olivia DeMasco, an eighth-grader at East Moriches Middle School, has received the Attorney General's Triple "C" Award in recognition of her "courage, character and commitment," school officials said.

Trevor Hayes, an eighth-grader at East Moriches Middle School, has received the Charles P. Tufano Academic Award in recognition of his academic excellence, extracurricular activities and community service, school officials said.

Gabriella Wendel, an eighth-grader at East Moriches Middle School, has received the County Executive Public Service Award in recognition of her high academic achievement and significant volunteer work during the year, school officials said.

Nellely Lopez, a senior at Brentwood High School, has received the County Executive Public Service Award in recognition of her academic success in combination with a strong commitment to the surrounding community, school officials said.

Jacob Sullivan, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, has received the school's Breakfast of Champions Award in recognition of his character and kindness. . Sullivan leads quietly as an example for others, is the first to show compassion and concern when something happens to another student, and always says hello to passersby in the hallway, school officials said.

Sophia Marino, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, has received the school's Breakfast of Champions Award in recognition of her character and kindness. Her efforts include offering support to her friends, positive interactions with peers and staff, and raising funds for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, school officials said.

Rachel Klein, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, has received the school's Breakfast of Champions Award in recognition of her character and kindness.  Her efforts include drawing over 30 Post-it notes for the school's "Take What You Need" Wall, assisting with the school's Wellness Week, and serving as media manager of Art Club's Instagram page, school officials said.

Dan Dasaro, a senior at John F. Kennedy High School in Bellmore, has received the school's Breakfast of Champions Award in recognition of his character and kindness. His efforts include going above and beyond for a student who struggles emotionally and socially, school officials said.
