Cops: Small plane makes emergency landing on beach on Fire Island

A single-engine Cessna airplane with three people on board made an emergency landing Friday on a beach just west of Kismet on Fire Island after reporting a fuel issue, Suffolk County police and federal aviation officials said.
The plane landed at 3 p.m., police said adding that one passenger was taken to a hospital for injuries that were not life-threatening. It was not immediately known where the plane was coming from or heading toward.
According to Federal Aviation Administration records, the plane is a Cessna 182 and is registered to 2 BA PILOT NYC CORP, which is a flight school at Republic Airport in East Farmingdale. No one at the flight school wanted to comment.
