A last name on a no-fly list that appeared to match that of two passengers aboard a Dubai-bound flight leaving Kennedy Airport caused the return of the jet to the gate Thursday, a law enforcement source said.

But the name actually did not match, and the people taken off Emirates Flight 204 were returned to the plane, the source said.

The flight took off at 12:49 p.m.

The flight was stopped on Taxiway B at about noon by customs agents in vehicles and ordered to return to Terminal 4, Gate 5, the Federal Aviation Administration said.

CNN reported that a man and a woman were taken off the plane.

The flight had been scheduled to depart Kennedy at 11:36 a.m.

On Monday evening, accused would-be Times Square car bomber Faisal Shahzad was aboard an Emirates flight headed to Dubai when authorities boarded the plane and took him into custody.
