Family of Yonkers men killed in crash grieve for LIers
On a night when dozens of mourners paid their respects to her father and brother, killed in Sunday's Taconic State Parkway crash, Roseann Guzzo said her family also was grieving for the children killed in the other vehicle involved in the head-on collision.
"I wish I could have changed things, but I can't,” Guzzo said outside the wake at the Flynn Memorial Home in Yonkers. "We're going to have to get through this without any animosity.”

Michael Bastardi, 81, and his son, Guy, 49, were among the eight people killed after Diane Schuler of West Babylon drove the wrong way on the parkway and crashed into the SUV that the Bastardis and family friend Daniel Longo, 74, of Yonkers, were riding in.
Schuler, her daughter and three nieces also perished in the crash and were buried yesterday. Schuler's son, Bryan, 5, the only survivor, is recovering at Westchester Medical Center.
"It's a tragedy, it really is,” Guzzo, a Yorktown resident, said. "Our faith is going to get us through this -- faith and family.”
Guzzo said neighbors, friends and even strangers rallied to support the Bastardis. "It brought the community together,” Guzzo said.
Meanwhile, mourners at last night's wake described a family with a lot of respect in the community. Michael Bastardi, an Army veteran, was the longtime manager of the B&B Auto Parts store in the Bronx, while Guy Bastardi was manager of the Bridge Auto Parts store.
Laura Everstz, 34, of Valhalla, said she worked with Guy Bastardi years ago at Academy Auto Parts, where he would often bring in homemade food for everyone.
"He's a big teddy bear, a sweetheart,” she said.
