Pedestrian, 76, killed in Hempstead crash

A 76-year-old man was killed after he was struck by an SUV in Hempstead on Friday morning, Nassau police said.
The man, who was not identified by police, was crossing at the intersection of Jerusalem Avenue and Henry Street about 11 a.m. when he was hit by the driver of a 2015 Nissan Pathfinder.
The man suffered severe trauma and was transported to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead, police said in a statement.
The 47-year-old woman driving the SUV remained at the scene.
No further information was immediately available; the investigation is ongoing, police said.
