Fire district election info
Fire district elections around Long Island will be held Tuesday. The districts are independent public agencies with unsalaried commissioners who are responsible the budgets and setting policy. The districts raise funds, mostly through property taxes, to operate the fire departments within their jurisdictions. Only contested races and propositions on the ballots are listed here. Voting hours vary. For specific polling times, call your district or check its web site.
