A vehicle fire forced the closure of the eastbound exit ramp of the Long Island Expressway in Dix Hills for about two hours Tuesday, Suffolk police said.

Authorities shut the eastbound ramp of Exit 50 [Bagatelle Road] of the LIE shortly before 4 p.m. as they investigated the blaze on the exit ramp that a witness said set the highway sound barrier on fire. The blaze began after a 2018 Volvo struck the guardrail and "became engulfed in fire," police said.

The driver, a 52-year-old woman from Dix Hills, was treated for minor injuries at Huntington Hospital, police said.

There were no other injuries, officials said.

The exit ramp was reopened about 5:40 p.m., police said.
