Ten people, including four children, were displaced on Tuesday after a midmorning fire damaged their home in Freeport.
The fire on Raynor Street was reported at 10:35 a.m., bringing about 30 firefighters from Freeport, Merrick and Roosevelt to the scene. They brought the blaze under control in about 15 minutes, the Nassau County Fire Marshal's Office said.
No injuries were reported. The Red Cross was notified to help the displaced people, six adults and four children, the fire marshal's office said.
The fire apparently originated in an attached garage, but spread to the two-story home; the extent of damage was not immediately known, officials said.
The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
